Graeme Smith hits back at Mitchell Johnson after the series win against Australia
Graeme Smith had the last laugh. How often have we read this after a Test series in Australia? This time though it is not on the field. Graeme Smith had come out with all guns blazing before the start of the Test in Hobart. It didn’t make quite a few Australians happy. Steve Smith responded prior to the Hobart match stating Graeme Smith had no idea about Australian cricket.
Cricket Australia’s boss James Sutherland also minced no words. He had said, “I think it’s nearly laughable for him to be making comments on the culture of the Australian team.”
“I think Graeme’s been out of the game for a while, he doesn’t know what’s going on in the Australian dressing room and it’s inappropriate for him to comment. I think he’s being opportunistic to throw a bomb.”
Mitchell Johnson was one of the notable former Australian cricketers who took the bait and he held back no punches.
Mitchell Johnson took a jibe at South Africans inability to conquer the bigger moments citing their failures to get over the line in the World Cups.
Unfortunately for Mitch and the CA boss, Australian cricket team couldn’t back them up in the field at Hobart. Australia succumbed to a humiliating defeat lasting only 552 balls over two completed innings. Steve Smith was the lone man fighting with the bat as Australians collapsed for the second time in the Test.

After losing the last ten wickets for 86 in Perth, Australia slid even further. They lost ten wickets for 85 in the first innings and lost 8 for 32 in the second innings.
This gave ammunition for Graeme Smith to train his guns at Mitchell Johnson.
At the moment, none of the Australians have answers to any of the questions posed by South Africans.
