Harbhajan Singh reckons Zaheer Khan is ideal for team India bowling coach
In the recently concluded season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Zaheer spearheaded the Delhi Daredevils team.
Veteran Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh believes that the Indian team could reap rich dividends if they rope in the services of Zaheer Khan as their head bowling coach. Zaheer has been a stalwart of the game who has contributed immensely to the Indian cricket. Zaheer shouldered the responsibility of being the bowling spearhead of the Indian cricket team for more than a decade.
He was a part of the Indian team that had lifted the ICC World Cup 2011. During his playing days, Zaheer Khan shared great camaraderie with off-spinner Harbhajan Singh. It comes as no surprise that both players know each other very well. Hence, in a recent post on the social media, Harbhajan noted that Zaheer could be the best option for being the Indian fast bowling coach.
In his tweet, he remarked the same and also called Zaheer as a great mind and great fellow. Harbhajan Singh tweeted, “@ImZaheer would be the best option for indian fast bowling coach in my opinion..Great mind #Greatfella”
Zaheer open to the option
Earlier, even Zaheer had noted that he is open to the responsibility if it comes his way. In the recently concluded season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Zaheer spearheaded the Delhi Daredevils team. He was their bowling mentor as well and guided youngsters like Mohammad Shami, Kagiso Rabada, and Pat Cummins. Zaheer had remarked that the role of the coach is a bigger responsibility than being the captain. However, in the end all that matters is the experience that one possesses.
“I am open to it. I have already been advising the boys, so yes, I am open. Coach has a bigger responsibility in the game even though it’s up to the players to perform. It doesn’t matter whether the coach is a former bowler or batsman. All that counts is experience,” Zaheer had quoted.
