Hardik Pandya criticised for a tweet he posted after the end of the match
He scored 76 from 43 balls with the help of four boundaries and six sixes registered his highest ODI score before being run out.
Hardik Pandya was the only one who stood up for the Indian team on a day that was full of sheer dismay. But he couldn’t finish his inning in the fashion he would’ve wanted as a miscommunicated run with Ravindra Jadeja set him back for the long walk. It wasn’t his mistake and understanding everything Jadeja should’ve sacrificed his wicket but he didn’t and Pandya was gutted.
Soon after the end of the game, a screen grab of a tweet emerged. It was from Hardik’s official Twitter account and it read- ‘Hume to apno ne loota gairon m kahan dumm tha.’ Which roughly translates to it ‘we are robbed by someone close while others didn’t have the courage to do it.’
It fits in context with Jadeja running Hardik out while he was the one playing the shots and getting the runs for the team. A lot of Twitter users shared the screen grab of the tweet which they claimed the cricketer deleted immediately after posting. He was widely criticised for it as that is not how you react to an on-field incident with your teammate.
When CricTracker contacted the Indian allrounder he confirmed that it was a fake tweet and he hadn’t posted anything of that sort.
So as it turns out the tweet and it was a work of someone’s imagination and photo editing skills.
Hardik in the game gave a really good account of himself first with the ball being one of the most effective Indian bowlers as he wasn’t expensive and also picked a wicket. His 10 overs cost India just 53 runs while the likes of Bumrah and Ashwin gave away 68 and 70 runs respectively. With the bat, he was the only silver lining in an otherwise dismal show as he took on the Pakistan bowlers and hit them for some magnanimous sixes.
He scored 76 from 43 balls with the help of four boundaries and six sixes registered his highest ODI score.
This morning he was among the first Indian players to tweet and posted – “#CT17 was an incredible journey for #TeamIndia. We gave it our best. A complete teameffort. Thank you everyone for the messages & support.”
Here is the fabricated tweet:
