Hardik Pandya hit a thousand balls in Australia after being removed, says mentor Kiran More
"I think things were blown out of proportion." - Kiran More.
Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya, after having worked extremely hard to regain his fitness, put his career in doldrums just as he returned to the Indian team. The Baroda cricketer made controversial remarks on women in a talk show that he attended during the break. Thus, he was suspended by the BCCI’s CoA for his actions.
But now that his suspension is revoked, mentor Kiran More revealed how Pandya channelized his anger during the suspension period. Hardik lost a brand deal, was sent back home midway through the tour due to the misogynistic comments. The 25-year-old had to deal with a lot of frustrations and he chose to hit the cricket ball hard as a getaway.
Things were blown out of proportion, says More
“When I was working with him in my academy in Baroda, I saw him hitting the ball cleanly. I asked him how he had managed to retain that touch. He told me, ‘Sir, I hit a thousand balls in Australia when I was removed.’ That’s the way to do it,” More told India Today. More also heaped a lot of praise on Hardik and said that he was happy that the youngster will get to play cricket again.
“I remember him as a very talented cricketer, who wanted to do everything – bowl, bat, field and he wanted to win. I am just happy he will get to play cricket again,” he recollected. Kiran More also opined that things were blown out of proportion regarding the issue. He said that he doesn’t remember single misbehaviour from Hardik Pandya ever since he’s known him.
“He made a mistake and apologized. I think things were blown out of proportion. He doesn’t have a bad track record on the field. I have known him for long. There is not single cricket misbehaviour I remember,” concluded More.
