Harmanpreet Kaur given an offer for the DSP post by Punjab CM

Captain Amarinder Singh has been in awe of Harmanpreet’s performances in the back end of the recently concluded ICC Women’s World Cup. After having a quiet World Cup, the Punjab batter rose to the occasion by playing three crucial back-to-back knocks of 60, 171* and 51. Despite her heroics, India failed to get across the line, falling short by just 9 runs. Cash reward already announced for Kaur Amarinder Singh, following a record-breaking knock of 171* by Kaur, awarded the star batswoman with a cash reward of Rs 5 lacs for her excellent knock under pressure. It was on the back of her blazing innings that India qualified for the finals of the World Cup after a gap of 12 years. Though the Women in Blue could not bring the World Cup home, they received a lot of support and respect for their brave campaign in England. Amarinder Singh was quick to announce another reward to Kaur soon after India lost the finals to England. According to ANI, the Punjab CM has offered the position of DSP to Harmanpreet Kaur. He also tweeted the same on his official Twitter account. Proud of @ImHarmanpreet, they gave an excellent fight to England in the World Cup final, would be happy to appoint her DSP if she desires. — Capt.Amarinder Singh (@capt_amarinder) July 23, 2017 Interestingly, the Punjab government had snubbed Kaur’s job application for the Punjab police in 2011 despite her 2 years experience as an Indian cricketer. So near yet so far for India In the finals, India lost the battle mentally. They floundered the game after being in a solid position of 138 for 2 in the 34th over. They lost the remaining 8 wickets for 81 runs in 91 balls to hand England their first World Cup title. If India had kept their head, they would have overhauled the modest target of 229 as the required run rate never went in excess of 6 runs an over at any point during the chase. Mithali Raj put it aptly at the post match interview that she is proud of the performance of the girls. It took a lot of grit and self-belief for a young team to reach this far. With more experience and exposure, they can keep getting better and better.
