Harmanpreet Kaur heaps praises on Pooja Vastrakar as Supernovas triumph over Trailblazers
Pooja did a great job for us, stated Harmanpreet Kaur.
Harmanpreet Kaur’s Supernovas kicked off this year’s tournament in grand style as they managed to defeat Trailblazers by 49 runs in the opening match at the MCA Stadium in Pune. Supernova’s captain Harmanpreet Kaur insisted that the building of partnership has played a major key role in their win in the match.
After winning the toss, Supernovas opted for batting first and both the openers, Deandra Dottin and Priya Punia provided a blistering start by putting 50 runs in just five overs. After that, Skipper Harmanpreet scored 37 runs off 29 balls and build a partnership of 37 runs with Harleen Deol as Supernovas ended with 163 runs in 20 overs. Harmanpreet’s innings included four fours while she managed to score runs at a strike rate of 127.59. Good partnership in the middle overs helped Supernovas, after losing the path due to some quick wickets, to reach this respectable total.
Trailblazers started the chasing in a steady manner but they lost their path completely, courtesy of Pooja Vastrakar’s excellent spell of four overs, scalping four wickets for 12 runs only. Trailblazers were restricted only to 114 runs by losing nine wickets. After the match, the Supernovas Captain looked happy and relaxed about her side’s all-around performance.
“The way we wanted to bowl in the second innings, we did really well. Whatever we planned we were able to execute. A proper game for us. I think we were 20 runs short. Whenever I was thinking to execute myself, we were losing wickets. That’s why I had to stay there, look for ones and twos. We need to look for partnerships. Weren’t able to do that after Harleen and mine,” said Kaur after the opening fixture.

She also praised Pooja Vastrakar as she was adjusted the player of the match for her all-around performance in the match with both bat and ball. She managed to score a quickfire 12-ball 14 runs, including one four.
“Pooja did a great job for us – that’s what we were expecting from her. We just need to come back with the same motion. When you win the game, you’re happy and relaxed. Because we won, I don’t think we’re very tired,” Kaur added.
The Supernovas will look to continue this good start when they face Velocity on Tuesday, May 24.
