Harmanpreet Kaur in no hurry to accept DSP post in Punjab Police
Harmanpreet Kaur was also offered the post of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) by the Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh.
The vice captain of the Indian Women’s cricket team, Harmanpreet Kaur, was instrumental in seeing team India finish as the finalists in the recently concluded ICC Women’s World Cup 2017. Kaur was the star of the show when she singlehandedly thrashed Australia Women in the semi-final encounter. Soon after the knock, the praises and accolades came in flooding for the Indian all-rounder.
Harmanpreet Kaur was also offered the post of the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) by the Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh. However, Kaur is in no hurry to come to a conclusion on this. As per the recent quotes in the India Today, Kaur conceded that she will discuss the offer with her family before accepting it. Also, she noted that she is indebted to her current employer – the Indian Railways – for having done so much for her in the past.
“I am waiting to go back home and the family will sit together before arriving at any final decision. Railways gave us jobs when we had nothing. They have supported us (10 out of 15 players from the World Cup squad were from Railways) all these years. We are always going to be indebted to our organisation,” quoted Harmanpreet Kaur.
Pretty much like the other players in the team, Kaur has been playing a lot of cricket in the recent times. She conceded that she wishes to go home and get the taste of home cooked food as soon as possible. “I so badly want to go back home. It has been almost five or six months since I have been away. The first thing I want to do after returning to Moga is to have some home cooked food made by my mother,” said Kaur.
Mithali sets her eyes on World T20
Meanwhile, skipper Mithali Raj has now set her eyes on the ICC Women’s World T20 2018. She remarked that she is going to give her best in the tournament next year. She is unsure whether she will play another fifty over World Cup or not. “I can’t say right now whether I’ll be captaining the side again in the next World Cup or not. However, I will continue to give my best and doing well in the 2018 World T20 remains the next major priority right now,” said Mithali Raj.
