The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League has come to an abrupt halt after multiple cases of Covid-19 were reported across camps in different bubbles. While the BCCI was mulling over rescheduling the tournament in its entirety in Mumbai, two new cases on the same day as Amit Mishra and Wriddhiman Saha of Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively returned a Covid positive test led the BCCI and IPL Governing Council to take the last resort.

While the fate of the marquee league now hangs in uncertainty as the upcoming calendar has dates marked for a host of other events, it remains to be seen what the BCCI will propose as a solution to conclude the curtailed event. Notably, the league came to a halt at the halfway mark as all the teams had faced each other at least once in the league, with reverse clashes only starting to take place.

Never mind, for a league as happening as the IPL, even half the tournament is enough to witness plenty of action and performances. And there were indeed aplenty. Be it AB de Villiers’ sensational knocks at the Chepauk track where nearly all the batters found the going difficult or Jos Buttler’s blitzkrieg against the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Or Harshal Patel bowling at the death overs to Avesh Khan and Deepak Chahar setting up powerplays on fire with the ball.

While these are only to name a few, this edition of the IPL cannot go without Ravindra Jadeja’s maniac show against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Unarguably the most dominating and complete performance of the season so far (and it will remain for some time now), Jadeja smothered the Purple Cap holder Patel for a whopping 37 runs in the final over to finish unbeaten 62 off just 28.

That was not all as he later returned to dismiss two of the most celebrated T20 showmen of all times, let alone in the IPL, Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers, and finished with figures of 3/13 from his four overs that included a maiden. To top all of this, he could have done only one thing, and that he did with a traditional Jadeja direct hit to sent Dan Christian packing.

Harsha Bhogle praises Jadeja, he responds

So, it was no wonder that the celebrated cricket analyst and commentator Harsha Bhogle lavishly praised the CSK all-rounder and chose him as his stand-out all-rounder in the tournament so far.

“The all-round performance of the season; there can only be one, and that is Sir Jadeja himself. He hits 37 off the last over, he then picks 3/13 including the wickets of Maxwell and AB, has a direct hit. One person doing that (is) inconceivable. If there is a better performance than this in this season, I want to be there, bang in the middle watching it happen,” he said on Cricbuzz.

Interestingly, Ravindra Jadeja took note of the same and even responded to Bhogle. “Thanks a lot @bhogleharsha but I will be more happy if you call me Ravindra Jadeja” read his tweet. If he continues to perform this way, he might as well end up earning a knighthood someday, who knows!
