Pakistan bowling spearhead, Hasan Ali has been sidelined with an ankle injury and will be missing out the initial few matches of the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL). The 24-year-old suffered the injury during Pakistan’s recently concluded tour of New Zealand. The bowling dynamo incurred a nasty twist on his left ankle while playing football during a training session. The injury subsequently forced him out of Pakistan’s deciding T20I tie against the Black Caps.

An official privy to the developments confirmed that Hasan is yet to fully recover, and is likely to sit out the first three or four matches of Peshawar Zalmi. However, Ali will travel with the Zalmi franchise and his injury will be monitored on a daily basis.

Ali’s rise in international cricket has been phenomenal. Ever since his debut in 2016, Ali the bowling all-rounder has evolved into a deadly arsenal in the Pakistan line-up. He played a pivotal role in the finals of the CT 2017 to help Pakistan lift the trophy for the first time.

In the forthcoming edition of PSL as well, the speedster who will be representing defending champions Peshawar Zalmi looks eager to make his mark.

Peshawar Zalmi reveal Hasan Ali’s replacement

In the absence of the speedster, the Zalmi management has included the first-class cricketer Umaid Asif as cover for the injured bowler.

In another shuffle, Peshawar Zalmi has released Carribean batsman Evin Lewis, who had earlier withdrawn from the squad to play for his country in the World Cup qualifiers.

England cricketer Riki Wessels has joined the Zalmi squad as Lewis’ replacement. Wessels will be the seventh foreign player in the defending champions’ lineup.

A statement on PSL’s official Twitter handle read, “Umaid Asif will join @PeshawarZalmi as cover for fast bowler Hasan Ali who is recovering from an ankle injury.” England batsman Rikki Wessels will join Peshawar Zalmi as the seventh foreign player in place of Evin Lewis.”
