Hasan Ali signs for HKI United in Hong Kong T20 blitz
Hong Kong Island United is the sister franchise of the Islamabad United, Hasan's PSL team.
2017 was a phenomenal year for Hasan Ali in the International cricket. The Pakistan fast bowler finished the year as the highest wicket-taker in the limited-overs format. Hasan concluded the Champions Trophy at the top of the wicket-takers charts as he grabbed 13 wickets and was adjudged the Player of the tournament. The 23-year-old has signed for Hong Kong Island United to play in the Hong Kong T20 blitz.
Owner excited to have Hasan Ali in team
Hasan is currently no.1 in the ICC ODI rankings for bowlers. The owner seems excited at the prospect of having such a talented player on board. Aamna Naqvi, owner of the franchise admitted that he wants to see Pakistan pacer perform his trademark celebration as he can inspire the kids in Hong Kong to play the sport.
“As far as Hasan is concerned, we want him to do his trademark celebration here in Hong Kong and inspire kids to run in and bowl fast like him. Hasan became a fast bowler because he saw Waqar Younis bowl, we hope kids here see Hasan bowl and aspire to bowl like him.” Aamna Naqvi said as quoted by the South China Morning Post.
Hasan proud to play in the league
Hong Kong Island United is the sister franchise of the Islamabad United. Hasan revealed that his journey started with the red jersey of Islamabad United and he is excited to wear the red jersey of their sister franchise. He further added that PSL franchise is like a family to him.
“Islamabad United is like a family to me and it will be an honour for me to represent its sister franchise in the Hong Kong T20 Blitz,” the Pakistani bowler said.
He will be joined in the team by another promising player, Shadab Khan. The co-owner of the United franchise, Ali Naqvi said that his franchise is focussed on giving exposure to youth.
“Hasan Ali is the star of world cricket, he is the highest ODI wicket-taker in 2017 so having him on board is really exciting not just for our team but also for the Blitz as a tournament,” he said.
