Hasin Jahan sends match fixing complaints to Vinod Rai
Zakir Hussain, Jahan's lawyer interacted with the media and revealed the step taken by them
The Mohammed Shami-Hasin Jahan scandal has turned uglier with the passage of time. Jahan hurled allegations at the Indian fast bowler of domestic violence, extra-marital affairs and involvement in match-fixing scandals. Jahan also accused Shami and his family of delivering constant death threats. Subsequently, Shami’s annual contract has been withheld by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The controversy also meant that Shami’s participation for the Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League also looks bleak. A complaint has also been lodged with the Kolkata Police against the Bengal pacer. Most recently, Hasin Jahan forwarded a copy of the complaint to Vinod Rai, the chairman of BCCI’s Committee of Administrators.
The letter by Hasin Jahan to Vinod Rai
Zakir Hussain, Jahan’s lawyer interacted with the media and revealed the step taken by them. “We have sent the details of the complaint that was lodged at Lalbazar (Kolkata Police headquarters) and the copy of the FIR to Vinod Rai,” Hussain was quoted as saying by Times Now. Previously, Rai responded to the saga after Shami and Jahan’s telephonic conversation became public.
“This has reference to the various media reports pertaining to allegations against Md. Shami. The Committee of Administrators has listened to the audio recording of a telephonic conversation which it is claimed is between Md. Shami and his wife. The said audio recording is available in public domain,” Jahan’s lawyer added.
The case was lodged under sections 498A (cruelty to a woman by her husband or his relatives), 307 (attempt to murder), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation), 328 (causing hurt by means of poison) of the Indian Penal Code. It will be interesting to find out the upcoming developments pertaining to the matter as the police delve deep into the gravity of the matter.
