'Haye kya hairstyle tha tera' - Shikhar Dhawan takes a dig at Cheteshwar Pujara's decade-old photo

With India having a series of limited-over assignments lined up and the T20 World Cup scheduled in October, Dhawan is certainly going to play a big role in the blue jerseys’ scheme of things.

Ace India opener Shikhar Dhawan is known for cracking jokes. The cricketer chooses to remain light-hearted even when the going gets tough and fans appreciate his composed approach to life. The southpaw also doesn’t pause pulling his playing mates’ legs and his latest victim is Test middle-order batsman Cheteshwar Pujara. The 34-year-old recently trolled Pujara for his unusual haircut which he had sported in 2010.

Dhawan took to Instagram to upload the decade-old picture of Pujara who is seen sitting besides Ajinkya Rahane, India’s Test vice captain, at what seems to be an award ceremony. He captioned the picture in Hindi saying: “Haye kya hairstyle tha tera @cheteshwarpujara” (What a hairstyle you have, Cheteshwar Pujara!)

Recently Dhawan also poked fun at Pujara after the latter picked a wicket in Ranji Trophy match for Saurashtra against Uttar Pradesh — his sixth in first-class cricket after playing 197 games.

2020 will be a crucial year for Shikhar Dhawan

Dhawan, who had a disappointing 2019 as he was ruled out of the ICC World Cup after hitting a match-winning century against Australia because of a fractured thumb, recently started playing for the national team regularly. While he missed batting the abandoned T20I against Sri Lanka in Guwahati, he hit a crucial 32 in 29 balls in the second match in Indore that India won by 7 wickets. His 71-run partnership with KL Rahul in the absence of Rohit Sharma showed that he continues to be a force.

Dhawan also sustained a knee injury during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and he missed international cricket in the month of December despite being picked initially for the double limited-over series against the West Indies.

With India having a series of limited-over assignments lined up and the T20 World Cup scheduled in October, Dhawan is certainly going to play a big role in the blue jerseys’ scheme of things.

Dhawan will be opening for India in the third and final T20I against the Lankans in Pune on Friday before facing the Australian attack in a three-ODI series. Virat Kohli’s men are leading the T20I series 1-0 and will look to wrap it in Pune.
