HCA condemn the statement made by Mohammad Azharuddin

Mohammad Azharuddin has undoubtedly been one of India’s greatest cricketers over the years. He had flourished both as a batsman and a skipper and was also an agile fielder. However, apart from his cricketing know-how, he has also been in the thick of things in terms of controversies surrounding several issues.
In a recent development, the former Indian captain blamed the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) for corrupt practices in selection procedures. He mentioned that a lady approached him and disclosed that one of the selectors demanded Rs 5 Lakhs to get a player selected in a certain stateside. However, in a recent press release, the HCA dismissed the allegations and referred to them as baseless.
They also condemned the accusations from Azharuddin and challenged the former Indian cricketer to prove the validity of the outrageous statement against the cricket board. They also asked Azharuddin to not throw charges without validating the facts with appropriate proofs and told him to re-check his statement.
The HCA in a statement said:
“Kind reference is invited to Special General Body meeting and press conference held on 7 -Jan-2018. Md Azharuddin former International Cricketer made allegations against the selectors of Hyderabad Cricket Association. He had alleged that the selectors were taking money to select players to represent the state teams.
He had made a specific mention that a lady had approached him and confided in him that a selector had demanded Rs 5 lakhs to consider a player for selection to a certain state side. We the selectors of Hyderabad Cricket Association for the year 2017-18 unanimously condemn the statement made by our Senior Cricketer. Md Azharuddin as the allegation are baseless, we want him to prove the allegation made by him and challenge him to come out with the name of the selector who had demanded the money thus bringing the association and game to disrepute.
We also request him to restrain from making such wide allegations without any proof to back his claims. We also want him to re track his statement.”
