'He is a pure Test material' - Danish Kaneria feels Yashasvi Jaiswal deserves a spot in India's red-ball setup
Danish Kaneria even added that he has been following the exploits of Jaiswal right from his Under-19 days.
Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria feels that uncapped Indian batter Yashasvi Jaiswal can be drafted into the Indian Test squad. Labeling Jaiswal as a ‘Test material’, Kaneria said that the left-hander is tailormade for the longest format of the game.
Kaneria even added that he has been following the exploits of Jaiswal right from his Under-19 days, and opined that the left-hander deserves an opportunity in the Indian Test team.
“You have Suryakumar Yadav on the bench. But at this point, it won’t be wrong to bring Yashasvi Jaiswal into the conversation. He’s a product of the U-19s. He played very well in the IPL but I see him as pure Test cricket material. I feel Test cricket is made for him.
I have been following Yashasvi Jaiswal since his U-19 days and the way he bats, he deserves to be there,” said Kaneria as quoted by The Hindustan Times.
India’s tour of South Africa will begin on 26th December 2021
India will begin their tour of South Africa with a three-match Test series, and the tour will get underway on 26th December 2021. There have been so many discussions about the composition of the Indian middle order.
Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra picked his Indian squad for the Test series against South Africa but has not included veteran Ajinkya Rahane in the team. Also, the superb performance by Shreyas Iyer in the two-match Test series against New Zealand will only make things tougher for the Indian selectors.
Also, Mayank Agarwal produced a superb show with the willow in the 2nd Test against the Kiwis and won the Player of the Match award, and with KL Rahul and Rohit Sharma likely to make a return to the Test side, it remains to be seen if Agarwal will be given a chance at the top of the order for the Test series against the Proteas.
