Ravindra Jadeja played a crucial knock in the second T20I against Sri Lanka to help the men in blue secure a series victory and he credited skipper Rohit Sharma for his batting promotion. The all-rounder also bowled four overs conceding 37 runs and picked up the important wicket of Danushka Gunathilaka at a stage when Sri Lanka was running away with the game.

Jadeja came into bat at No. 5 after the fall of Sanju Samson’s wicket and he had the perfect platform set to unleash his skiers. However, he played some beautiful shots including the cover drive to the start of his innings and finished with an unbeaten 45 in just 18 deliveries. The left-hander smacked seven boundaries and a six in his valiant knock and it was a much-needed inning from him considering he was out of the game due to injury since the New Zealand Tests last year.

Enjoying batting at number five: Ravindra Jadeja

Jadeja mentioned that he has enjoyed his role at No. 5 in the last two games and was happy to take his time before going for the kill in the death overs. He lavished praises on skipper Rohit for believing in his abilities and wished to do the same role in the future as well.

‘”Yes, I’m enjoying batting at number five. I can take my time and I can pace my innings according to the situation. I would like to thank Rohit because he trusts me and he believes in me that I can go out there and score runs for my team. So hopefully whenever I get an opportunity in the future, I’ll try and do my best, play according to the situation, and be in the game for my team,” Jadeja said during the post-match press interaction.

“I am feeling better, I am confident and I am good at going. I am glad that I played a good inning for my team. Hopefully, I will continue in the same in the upcoming games,” he added.

Jadeja is a huge asset to the Indian side having improved his batting massively in the last few years and is one of the best fielders going around as well. He brings a lot of balance into the side and plays the role of the perfect all-rounder for the side considering the T20 World Cup 2022.
