Lucknow Super Giants recorded a comprehensive 36-run triumph on Sunday (April 24) as Mumbai Indians suffered their eighth defeat on the trot. Chasing 169 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, Rohit Sharma’s men never really looked in the hunt and eventually fall short by a substantial margin. Meanwhile, the game also witnessed a hilarious banter between Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya.
The duo – who shared the MI dressing room between 2016 and 2021 – are rivals now as LSG bagged Krunal’s services in the 2022 mega auction. The two old friends were up against each other in the game and it was Krunal, who won the battle. The left-arm spinner dismissed Pollard in the final over of the game, making sure there’s no more twist in the tale.
I was so Thankful after Dismissing Kieron Pollard: Krunal Pandya
The senior Pandya was evidently delighted after dismissing the former West Indies captain as he jumped on his back to plant a kiss on his head. While Pollard didn’t pay much heed to his old friend’s antics, fans were entertained as the clip went viral in no time. Following the conclusion of the game, Krunal opened up about his banter with Pollard.

“I was so thankful that I got his (Pollard) wicket otherwise he would have eaten my brain throughout my life because he got me out and now that it’s 1-1 at least he will speak less,” Krunal said after the match. Meanwhile, the spinner scalped three wickets in the game and conceded just 19 runs in his quota of four overs.
Shedding light on his stellar show, Krunal said: “Honesty is important in the team and these guys (coaching staff) are doing pretty well and ensuring everyone is getting better. For me process is important and we want to accept our mistakes and learn from it.”
Meanwhile, LSG have now won five of their first eight games and are on the right track to secure a place in the playoffs. On the contrary, MI are all but out of the IPL 2022 playoff race after losing eight games on the trot.
