Here's everything you need to know about the Indian pacer Imtiaz Ahmed who knocked Chris Gayle in Abu Dhabi T10 League

The Abu Dhabi T10 League has brought out unknown players to the limelight and shown the world their true potential. In the last few seasons, we found players from several countries announcing themselves around top international players. Even in this season, the opening game saw the United Arab Emirates player Abdul Shakoor from Maratha Arabians come to the forefront after he scored 73 runs off just 28 balls. On the second day of the league, we found an Indian player Imtiaz Ahmed making everyone stop and notice his bowling brilliance.

Imtiaz Ahmed was the name everyone was taking after the fast-bowler bowled a superb opening over for his team Deccan Gladiators. The right-arm pacer got the wicket of Chris Gayle of Team Abu Dhabi on the third ball of the match. Two balls later, he struck again by getting the wicket of Paul Stirling. More interestingly, he bowled both these batsmen who were the two dangerous hitters which Team Abu Dhabi had. 

It was a little surprising that the pacer didn’t get to bowl any more in the match but he had made an impact for his team. He took the two most crucial wickets which set the match up for his side. Team Abu Dhabi didn’t really recover from two blows in the first over and ended up scoring 95 for 9, which was chased down easily by Deccan Gladiators. 

Imtiaz Ahmed was once picked by Chennai Super Kings

Imtiaz Ahmed was born in Bhadohi which is located in Uttar Pradesh, on November 10, 1985. He made his debut in domestic cricket for Uttar Pradesh in 2008. He first played white-ball cricket in February in the same year, before playing the Ranji Trophy later in November. In October 2009, he made his T20 debut as well against Railways. 

His regular performances for his state team helped him to get a chance to play in the Indian Premier League. He was first picked by the now-defunct Pune Warriors in 2011 and later picked up by Chennai Super Kings. He didn’t get to play on either occasion. Imtiaz Ahmed played 45 first-class, 20 List-A, and 20 T20 matches for his state team and picked up 138, 26, and 17 wickets respectively. His last match for Uttar Pradesh came in the year 2019.
