7. Adam Gilchrist – 149 v Sri Lanka:
During the finals of the World Cup 2007, Adam Gilchrist singlehandedly took the World Cup away from the Sri Lankan side. In a rain-curtailed match, that was cut down to 38 overs a side final, Gilchrist was slow to start but managed to get to his 50 in 43 balls. He stepped on the accelerator and marched on to get to his century in just 72 balls. He continued the attack before he was halted by Dilhara Fernando in the 31st over. Gilly scored 149 runs and had done the damage. Australia won the World Cup final by 53 runs by D/L method.
