6. Adam Gilchrist – 154 v Sri Lanka:
In the Carlton and United Series in 1999, Adam Gilchrist scored his first 150-plus score in ODIs. After opting to bat, Australia posted a gigantic 310/8 in their 50 overs. Gilchrist, the southpaw who opened the innings, went absolutely berserk to score 154 off 129 balls hitting 14 fours and 4 sixes. This was the highest score by an Australian batsman at that time. He was dismissed by Chaminda Vaas in the 46th over. Sri Lanka, in reply, were bowled out for 267 and Australia won the match by 43 runs.
