The record for the highest 1st wicket partnership in World Cups is held by Tillakaratne Dilshan and Upul Tharanga against Zimbabwe, they made 282 runs out of a team score of 327 runs. Dilshan made 144 and Tharanga made 133 runs.
Zimbabwe could only make 188 runs with Brendan Taylor making 80 runs and Dilshan taking 4/4. Zimbabwe lost the match by 139 runs.
