It was the match between West Indies and England at Manchester in 1984. The West Indian innings portrayed the real meaning of what it is like to have an anchoring batsman in the squad. 9 off the 11 batsmen were dismissed in single figures still West Indies managed to pose a total of 272 runs on the board, courtesy of a 189-run innings from Sir Vivian Richards. At last, Holding assisted Sir Viv to set up such a total. He remained unbeaten on 189 off 170 with 21 fours and 5 sixes while Michael Holding remained unbeaten on 12 off 27. West Indies won the match by 104 runs.
