Hope every South African woman supports the Stellenbosch Kings: Preity Zinta
“The shield signifies strength and power, the colour red shows passion, and the lion represents the South African fighting spirit,” quoted Preity Zinta.
Stellenbosch Kings, the last team to be owned in the T20 Global League, recently had the unveiling of the team logo. Bollywood actress and businesswoman Preity Zinta acquired the team ownership of the Paarl-based franchise. The build up to the inaugural edition of the T20 Global League has already begun and the hype around it is huge. The tournament will be played in November this year and conclude in the third week of December.
At the logo unveiling event, franchise owner Preity Zinta explained the significance of their team logo. Preity, who also co-owns the Kings XI Punjab franchise in the Indian Premier League, ensured that the logo of the Stellenbosch Kings was similar to that of the KXIP. This was because of the global marketing strategy of the owners. As per the recent quotes in Hindustan Times, she also spoke about the fact that her franchise will support the cause of girl power. She hopes to see every South African woman supporting the Kings.
“The shield signifies strength and power, the colour red shows passion, and the lion represents the South African fighting spirit,” quoted Preity Zinta.
“This message is for all the women out there – I hope every South African woman supports the Stellenbosch Kings, no matter what part of the country they live in. Girl power!” she added.
Lorgat praises Preity Zinta
The CSA CEO, Haroon Lorgat, had a sigh of relief with the final franchise being owned as well. He had his words of praise reserved for Preity as well. He mentioned that Preity has a good cricketing brain since she has been co-owning a team in the IPL.
“Preity is analytical, knowledgeable and experienced being a co-owner in the IPL. She knows what she wants and has the vision to make it all happen, including the financial planning and brand building that goes with owning a team,” said Haroon Lorgat.
