‘How can you eat bats and dogs’ - Shoaib Akhtar lambastes Chinese for causing Coronavirus outbreak
Akhtar was also not happy with the outbreak causing the ongoing PSL matches to be played in empty stadiums.
Former Pakistani fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar was left fuming and unable to understand the eating habits of Chinese nationals and blamed them for the spread of the deadly COVID-19 virus, known as Coronavirus, in his new video on YouTube. The deadly virus, which has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organisation (WHO) has affected more than 140,000 people worldwide.
There have been more than 5,000 deaths due to this virus, but more than 72,000 patients who tested positive for the coronavirus, successfully recovered from it as well. China, Italy, and Iran are three of the worst-hit countries with South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, and other South Asian countries also boring the brunt of the spread of this disease.
‘Chinese people have put the world on stake’: Shoaib Akhtar
The spread of this disease has also brought the sporting events across the globe to a standstill. Football events like Champions League and La Liga were either postponed or matches are being played in empty stadiums. The Indian Premier League 2020’s start has been postponed to April 15, while many bilateral series has been cancelled.
Even the Pakistan Super League 5 has been curtailed and more than 10 foreign players including a coach are returning back home midway tournament. This led to former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar criticizing the Chinese people for eating bats, cats and dogs and spreading this virus. The epicentre fo coronavirus outbreak was Wuhan province in China, which is known for its meat trade and selling exotic animals for food like cats, dogs, snakes, bats, alligators and many more.
“I don’t understand why you have to eat things like bats, drink their blood and urine and spread some virus across the globe… I’m talking about the Chinese people. They have put the world at stake. I really don’t understand how can you eat bats, dogs, and cats. I’m really angry,” Akhtar said in his YouTube video.
China has recorded 80,824 cases of the deadly virus with 3189 deaths so far. Even Pakistan has recorded 80 patients of coronavirus. India, on the other hand, has 83 cases as of now of coronavirus infected patients with 10 of them recovering.
“I’m not against the people of China but I’m against the law of animals. I understand this may be your culture but this is not benefitting you now, it is killing humanity. I’m not saying you boycott the Chinese but there has to be some law. You cannot go on an eat anything and everything,” Akhtar added.
Akhtar was also not happy with this outbreak causing the ongoing PSL matches to be played in empty stadiums given that it was the first time the whole tournament was being played in the country itself and the Pakistani people seeing their cricketing heroes.
