How come Adil Rashid isn’t one of the highest paid picks for the IPL: Michael Vaughan
Rashid returned with the figures of 2/23 in his four overs in second T20I.
England registered a comprehensive victory against South Africa in the second T20I of the three match series to take the lead by 2-0 on November 29, Sunday at Boland Park, Paarl. Right-arm leg break bowler Adil Rashid was the main architect behind England’s success in the game as he picked up two crucial wickets. Former England cricketer Michael Vaughan was impressed with his performance as well.
As far as the match is concerned, winning the toss, Eoin Morgan sent the hosts to bat first. England bowlers ensured that no partnership was formed in the middle by taking wickets. South Africa were reeling at 48/2 in 5.2 overs. However, they still had hopes of putting up a decent total on the board owing to the presence of Reeza Hendricks and Faf du Plessis on the field.
Meanwhile, leg-spinner Adil Rashid diminished the hopes of the hosts as he managed to send both Hendricks and Du Plessis back to the pavilion when they were playing at 16 and 11 respectively. Also, apart from all-rounder Jofra Archer, Rashid was the only bowler who gave runs at an economy rate of less than 6.
He was the most successful player for England with the ball as he bowled an exemplary spell of 4-0-23-2. Thus, the visitors managed to restrict SA to a below-par total of 146 for 6 in their 20 overs.
Michael Vaughan questions the unavailability of Adil Rashid in IPL
Seeing the exploits of Adil Rashid with the ball in the shortest format of the game, the former England captain Michael Vaughan is surprised that the former doesn’t play in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The leg-spinner has applied for IPL auctions a number of times in the past but no franchise has shown any interest in bidding for the England star.
Showering praises on Rashid for his parsimonious spell against South Africa in the second T20 International, Vaughan took to his official Twitter handle to express his bewilderment over the spinner not being one of the highest overseas picks in the IPL. The former England captain wrote, “How come Adil Rashid isn’t one of the highest paid picks for the #IPL ?? Surely he should be #OnOn #SAvENG”
Adil Rashid has till now featured in 51 T20I games for England scalping 51 wickets at an economy of 7.57 and average of 25.4.
England registered a comfortable victory against South Africa as the left-handed batsman Dawid Malan scored a stunning half-century. With the help of seven fours and a six, Malan smashed 55 runs off 40 deliveries and England won the match by 5 wickets and 1 ball.
