'How do you like your vadapav?' - Sachin Tendulkar responds to Ajinkya Rahane's question on Twitter
Rahane is now gearing up for the all-important Test series against New Zealand.
Ajinkya Rahane, the Indian vice-captain in the purest format of the game, Test cricket, is currently enjoying a well-deserved break. Rahane recently featured for Mumbai in the ongoing Ranji Trophy season, and even though he did not have a great outing, the premier Test batsman did enjoy a fruitful International season.
Rahane is now gearing up for the all-important Test series against New Zealand. The Indian vice-captain will be turning out for India A for a four-day game between February 7-10 ahead of the two-match series against the BlackCaps. Rahane is a fitness freak and he frequently tweets videos of him working out in the gym or sweating it out on the ground, but on Friday, the Mumbai batsman decided to have a cheat day.
Rahane posted a picture of him eating ‘Vada Paav’ and proceeded to ask the fans “How do you like your vada pav? 1. Vada pav with chai 2. Vada pav with chutney 3. Just Vada pav,” And, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar, whose penchant for food is well documented was among the first ones to reply to Rahane’s question. “I like my Vada Pav with red chutney, very little green chutney & some imli chutney to make the combination even better,” Tendulkar wrote.
Interestingly, Tendulkar had earlier revealed that he prefers ‘Spicy Vada Paav’. “I and my son (Arjun) love to eat vada-pav at Shivaji Park Gymkhana and there is nothing that can beat this snack, laced with ‘chutney’,” he had said in an interview to a Marathi news channel way back in 2011.
Ajinkya Rahane was the second-highest run-getter for India in the 2019 Test season
Coming back to Rahane’s performances in the 2019 season, the Mumbaikar was under severe pressure, in the lead-up to the Test season. He had not stroked a single Test hundred for two years and even though he had been getting starts and was stroking a good-looking 60s or 70s, he was not converting those starts into daddy hundreds, like he used to do during the initial phase.
That all changed when he stroked a typical Rahane ton in Antigua, and by the end of the season, the Indian vice-captain proceeded to emerge as the second-highest run-getter- 624 runs in 10 innings at an average of 78 with five half-centuries and two hundred, and he and India will hope the run-making spree continues in New Zealand.
