Big things were expected from West Indian pacer Sheldon Cottrell when he was snapped up by Punjab Kings in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). But the pacer failed to live up to those expectations as he managed to just pick six wickets, which made the franchise not to retain him for the 14th edition of IPL. But due to his jovial nature and friendliness, he made a lot of friends during his time with the Kings, and it seems he is also missing them.
An Australian cricket agent funnily took a dig at him calling him a finisher after he smashed a six off the last ball to help St Kitts & Nevis win a thriller against Barbados Royals in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL) on Thursday (2 September). Fittingly, the Caribbean fast bowler politely reminded her of what had happened in Brisbane earlier in 2021.
His tweet was in Hindi as he responded, “Is my agent sledging me? Show me you’re an Aussie without telling me you’re an Aussie?! Arre yaar, Gabba bhool gayi kya? (Have you forgotten what happened at Gabba).”

This epic match featured Australia and India, where the home team failed to defend an imposing total on the fifth day at Gabba. Sensing an opportunity, a fan tagged former India opener Wasim Jaffer and also Punjab Kings batting coach and asked him whether he had managed to teach Cottrell how to troll. It is a well-documented fact that Jaffer’s sassy answers and witty replies have become quite popular, and he never shies from giving back to anyone.
Cottrell though responded in a true-blue Jaffer fashion and wrote, “Hum bowling pe itni koshish karte hai jitna Jaffar apne tweets pe karta hai. (I work on my bowling as much as Jaffer works on his tweets).”

Punjab Kings sign Nathan Ellis for the UAE leg of IPL
With Riley Meredith and Jhye Richardson opting out of the UAE leg of IPL, the Kings managed to snap Nathan Ellis for the reminder of IPL. The Australian pacer impressed in a T20I against Bangladesh, where he became the first player to take a hat trick on debut. He will be a good addition to the squad. The Kings are currently placed sixth in the points table.
