Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming isn’t much concerned about Ravindra Jadeja‘s form in the ongoing IPL 2022 edition. After a mind-blowing season last year, Jadeja has not been able to live up to his usual standards and is yet to fire in the tournament this year. The left-hander was relieved of his captaincy duties as well with MS Dhoni taking over again, however, it hasn’t worked out yet.
So far in 10 games in IPL 2022, Jadeja has managed just 116 runs and his struggles in the middle order have reflected in the results for CSK as well. In a crucial run chase against RCB, Jadeja came in at six and he could manage just three off five deliveries which did not help their cause. The all-rounder has grown into one of the vital cogs in the CSK set-up and in the Indian team in the last two years. Hence, the fans will be hoping to see him back at his best soon with the bat.
At No. 5 or 6, you don’t get a lot of time: Stephen Fleming
Fleming noted that he isn’t much concerned about Jadeja’s form as he felt that T20 cricket can be a cruel game at times. He also stated about the difficulties of batting at No.5 or 6 where there is much less time to settle in and was willing to provide Jadeja with his best position to bring back his golden touch.
“I am not concerned, T20 game can be tough. When you are batting at No. 5 or No. 6, you don’t get a lot of time to get the tempo or rhythm right. We will look at it now and work out what the best order will be going forward, but no I am not concerned about his form,” Fleming told in a chat after the RCB game.
With the 13-run loss to RCB, the Chennai Super Kings will no longer be able to make it to the playoffs this season as they have won just three of their ten games so far.
