‘I can relate to his story’- Jasprit Bumrah reveals he idolizes football player Zlatan Ibrahimović
Jasprit Bumrah was set to play for Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League 2020.
Jasprit Bumrah, the premium fast bowler from India has emerged as one of the best in the last three years. At the moment he is spending time with his family back in his home while in self-isolation. He recently interacted with his teammate and Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma. And, the Indian fast bowler surprisingly revealed that he idolises Swedish star footballer Zlatan Ibrahimović.
The right-handed fast bowler hogged the spotlight with his fierce bowling. In the early phase, the majority of the people took Bumrah lightly due to his out of the league bowling action. At that time very few believed that he could be the next big thing Indian cricket.
He attracted everyone’s attention towards him with his brilliant performances in Indian Premier League (IPL) while playing for Mumbai Indians. The selectors were quite impressed and soon he received a call up for the national team.
Jasprit Bumrah made his international debut back in 2016 and became the strike bowler of the country. So far he has grabbed 231 wickets across all the formats. Moreover, he is currently on 7th position in Tests and 2nd in ODIs in the latest best bowlers ranking released by ICC.
Bumrah’s stunning revelation
On Wednesday, he was involved in an interaction with the Indian opener, Rohit Sharma in a live video session on Instagram. While conversing, Jasprit Bumrah revealed the fact that he idolises Swedish star footballer Zlatan Ibrahimović. The Indian fast bowler also added that he can relate with the story of the 38-year-old footballer.
As per Bumrah, in the starting phase, nobody took Ibrahimović quite seriously. Now he has become one of the best players in football. The same thing happened with him as people seldom took his talent seriously.
“I love Ibra. I can relate to his story, that people did not take him seriously and then he became a star. I can relate as people took me lightly initially, and then I proved them wrong.” Bumrah said in Live Instagram session with Rohit Sharma. Jasprit Bumrah was set to play for Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2020. But the tournament got postponed to mid-April due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus.
