Cricket fans went in nostalgia as the inaugural edition of the Legends League Cricket (LLC) got underway on Thursday (January 20). The tournament sees former and veteran cricketers from different nations plying their trade. India Maharajas were up against Asia Lions in the opening fixture and the game went right down to the wire. Meanwhile, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan was one of the many retired players featuring in the game.
One of his ‘crazy’ fan was also present at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground and she didn’t miss out on expressing her love for Pathan. Remya Raghav is the name of the fan and she’s a cabin crew by profession. Sharing a clip of Irfan from the game, Remya revealed that she became a cabin crew only to meet the southpaw.
Irfan Pathan’s fan expresses her love
“18 years ago when I was in high school, I told my friends I’ll be a cabin crew and will definitely meet Irfan Pathan. BTW, he is my first love, one sided. The only reason why I chose to be a cabin crew is because of him. I know it sounds crazy! Don’t worry Irfan, yes I am a crazy fan of yours, but always wish the best for you and your family,” she wrote in her Instagram story.
Remya also recalled having a conversation with the cricket star in Pune 12 years ago. “I still remember collecting all pictures of Irfan to make an album out of it, have those back home. Back in school, I used to be known as Pathan not as Remya,” recalled the game.
“I met him in Pune 12 years ago in Pune and had a good chat, a true gentleman. Now, here I am watching him play. Well played India, well played India. I love you, your crazy fan,” she added.
Meanwhile, Irfan’s elder brother Yusuf stole the show in the opening game as he slammed the Lions bowlers for fun. Coming to bat at number five, the senior Pathan attacked bowlers from the outset and slammed a 40-ball 80. Irfan also scored 21 off 10 balls as the Maharajas won the contest by six wickets.
