'I didn't know how much Rs 15 crore was in New Zealand dollars' - Kyle Jamieson after getting a bid from RCB in IPL 2021 Auction
After getting picked by RCB for IPL 2021, Kyle Jamieson has the golden opportunity of rubbing his shoulders with the greats of the game including Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers.
Kyle Jamieson became the most expensive Kiwi buy and the 4th highest overall in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) as he was picked by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) during the IPL 2021 auction for a staggering amount of INR 15 crore. While the pace all-rounder was overwhelmed with the bids he received during the auction, the 26-year-old shared the conversation he had with the former New Zealand pacer and Mumbai Indians bowling coach Shane Bond regarding the same.
Jamieson revealed that he was watching the auction late at night and was waiting for his turn to arrive. As soon as he was picked by the Bangalore outfit, the seamer received a message from Shane Bond regarding his feelings. However, at that time Kyle wasn’t very sure about his emotions as he didn’t know exactly how much INR 15 crore is after getting converted to New Zealand dollars.
“I woke up around midnight and decided to check the phone. Rather than trying to avoid the situation, (I thought) I’ll sit back and enjoy it. It was certainly a weird hour and a half waiting for my name to be called up. I had a message from Shane Bond as it was going and he said, ‘How good is this’. I didn’t actually know what the amount of money was, how that translated to New Zealand dollars. It was quite cool to share that moment with him and ride that two or three minutes with him,” said Kyle Jamieson as quoted by stuff.co.nz.
