I don't see cricket being played for at least a year due to the COVID-19 outbreak: Shoaib Akhtar

The cricketing industry is dealt with a major blow due to the Coronavirus outbreak. All the major series and tournaments have been postponed for an indefinite period. Moreover, the chances are quite slim that the cricket will return to its regular state in the near future. Meanwhile, Shoaib Akhtar has also opened up over the same and said that he can’t see cricket being played for at least one year as far as the current situation is concerned.

COVID-19 threats have shaken the whole world and every respective industry. From IPL to Olympics everything had to face the sword of postponement. The situation is getting worse with each day passing instead of improving. In the meantime, the death toll is increasing at a very high rate. This forced the governments to announce lockdown in their respective countries. And, it indirectly means no cricket and no sports for the fans.

Shoaib Akhtar feels it is a troublesome situation for everyone

Talking over the same, Shoaib Akhtar said that there is no appropriate time when the things will return to normalcy. As per him, COVID-19 cannot be stopped until it is known how many people are exactly affected by the virus. He also added that he can’t see cricket resuming for almost an year due to the novel virus that has taken more than 1 Lakh lives across the globe. The 44-year-old recited that it is a tough time for every individual across the globe. But everyone needs to come back stronger.

“If you ask me honestly, I do not know for how long the coronavirus outbreak will last, until and unless it is not known that how many people are infected, one cannot go ahead with any kind of cricket anywhere,” Akhtar said in a video posted on his YouTube Channel.

“I do not see cricket being played for at least a year due to the coronavirus. I see the virus troubling us for one year, these are troublesome times, I just hope we come out of this stronger,” he added.
