'I feel really refreshed' - Pat Cummins eager to give his best in T20 WC after long break from cricket
Cummins said that the five months break from the game enabled him to return stronger.
The Australian pacer Pat Cummins has expressed his eagerness to be a part of the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021. He put aside the talks about his form and asserted that he feels good heading into the marquee event. The speedster wasn’t a part of the side for the white ball series against Bangladesh and the West Indies.
Cummins dint feature in the second half of the IPL as well. He however took the charge of the field against India in the warm-up game. The speedster bowled his quota of overs conceding 33 runs and went wicketless in the match. Thus, there were concerns around his form and rhythm ahead of the start of the World Cup.
He added that the five months break from the game enabled him to return stronger. The 28-year-old also added that he is all prepared to play in the mega event and the Ashes series as well.
“It was good to have a really good, solid five months of work. I feel really refreshed. I was absolutely chomping at the bit to get over here and play the Ashes after this as well. I was going flat out for the last month, knowing that we might not get a heap of game time before the World Cup starts. I feel really good, in a great place. It was great to go and play the practice game and I felt I got a lot out of that, so I’m ready to go,” Cummins said as quoted by Perth Now.
Within the camp, there’s a real confidence and we’re excited to get started: Pat Cummins
Australia has had a dismaying run in their recent T20I series. The team faced defeat against both Bangladesh and the West Indies. Cummins however feels that the side has some of the best players and everyone is raring to make an impact in the tournament.
“Our results haven’t been where we would like them to be over the last little bit, but we haven’t really spoken about what anyone else has been saying about us. We’ve got some of the best players in the world, everyone’s fit and ready to go, the vibe’s outstanding and we’ve played a lot of cricket together. Within the camp, there’s a real confidence and we’re excited to get started,” Cummins added.
