‘I have been given a lot of confidence’ – Kuldeep Yadav credits DC skipper Rishabh Pant for his remarkable run in IPL 2022

Delhi Capitals put up a clinical show on Wednesday (April 20) and thrashed Punjab Kings by nine wickets at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. It was unarguably the most one-sided game of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 so far as PBKS never really looked in the hunt. After bundling out the Kings for 115, DC crossed the line in just 10.3 overs, clinching the contest by nine wickets.

Kuldeep Yadav was one of the chief architects of DC’s triumph as he took a couple of wickets and gave away just 24 runs in his quota of four overs. Notably, the Capitals have won three games this season and every single time, Kuldeep has been adjudged the Player of the Match. It has indeed been a remarkable turnaround for the left-arm wrist-spinner, who didn’t get many chances for Kolkata Knight Riders in the last couple of seasons.

In IPL 2022, Kuldeep has so far taken 13 wickets in just six games. Speaking of his remarkable comeback, the spinner credited DC skipper Rishabh Pant for instilling confidence in him. He also revealed how Pant’s advice helped him dismiss Nathan Ellis in the game. “I have been given a lot of confidence in this IPL and I am very clear mentally as to how the batter will react to me,” Kuldeep said after the match.

“I am really enjoying my bowling after a long time and the credit behind the wickets goes to Rishabh for the way he backs his spinners. This gives a lot of confidence to the bowlers because he does not panic much and probably that’s a huge plus point,” added the wrist spinner.

Meanwhile, these are still early days for Rishabh Pant as captain and the wicketkeeper-batter has been pretty impressive so far. He brilliantly operated his bowlers against PBKS as DC were in command throughout the contest. Meanwhile, DC will now face the in-form Rajasthan Royals in their next assignment on Friday (April 22).
