West Indies Cricket registered a famous victory over England, their first win in England in 17 years and one would have to say that they had too much firepower and managed to upstage Englishmen by five wickets and eventually helped Windies to square the series 1-1.

The star performers for West Indies were Kemar Roach and Shannon Gabriel, who set the tone by restricting the opposition to score big. In reply, it was all about the mega partnership between Kraigg Brathwaite, the unsung hero and Shai Hope, the ultimate hero. In the end, the Test match had a redemptive theme to it all through, as the end would scream in Windies favor.

Jason Holder never lost belief in his side

Jason Holder, West Indies skipper said he never lost belief in his side and always knew that one good game can turn things around for West Indies cricket.

“It feels really good, especially after the game in Edgbaston, it was a tough loss. A lot of teams would have crumbled coming back into the second Test match and probably would not have given England the fight that we gave them,” Holder said yesterday.

“I said at the beginning of this Test match that I back these guys to rebound and there was no better way to do it,” he added.

Victory will help to boost morale

The aptly-named Hope was the creator of history. He scored centuries in both the innings and became the first batsman to do so in 127 years of first-class cricket at Headingley. On this, Hope said, “It was mainly about winning. Knowing how much the fellas really wanted this win, you could see the fight and belief in the dressing room on the faces of the guys,” quoted by mid-day cricket.

Next Assignment

With this, the excitement of second Test match stands still as these two teams will take on each other in all important third and final Test match which will also be the decider on 7th September at Home of Cricket, Lord’s.
