'I used to cry and unplug the TV after Sachin Tendulkar used to get out' - Hanuma Vihari

Sachin Tendulkar, the former Indian cricketer’s name doesn’t need any introduction. He is regarded as one of the best batsmen in the history of cricket. The former player ruled cricket for more than two decades. In the end, his fans nicknamed him as ‘God of Cricket’. Now, Hanuma Vihari has opened up over the importance of Sachin Tendulkar in his career.
Tendulkar was no less than a nightmare for any bowler. Even, Shane Warne, the former Aussie leg-spinner accepted the fact that Sachin used to give him nightmares. He was technically very sound and faced some of the great bowlers like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Imran Khan and many more. There is no doubt over the fact that Sachin elevated cricket in India. And, young fans began picking cricket as their career in order to walk on the footsteps of Tendulkar.
The 46-year-old bid adieu to international cricket back in 2013. Now, it’s been around seven years and he still holds several records in international cricket like most runs in ODIs and Tests. Also, the Master Blaster holds the record for scoring most number of tons in Tests and ODIs.
‘I began playing cricket because of Sachin Tendulkar’: Hanuma Vihari
Recently, Hanuma Vihari, the middle-order batsman from India revealed that Sachin Tendulkar has been his idol since childhood. The former player played a significant role while he was growing. According to Vihari, he began playing cricket just because of the Indian batting maestro.
There is no question over the fact that Tendulkar was an inspiration for every child who wanted to break into the Indian side. Vihari used to love watching Sachin’s batting. Vihari also recalled instances when he used to unplug television after Sachin Tendulkar used to get out. Vihari would even start crying after the departure of Tendulkar.
“Sachin sir was obviously my idol when I grew up. That was the reason why I started playing cricket. When I was young I used to watch him bat and I loved it. In the 90s he was like the king of batting. Whenever he used to get out, I used to cry and unplug the TV – used to do all such things,” Vihari told host Manish Batavia in chat show of Cricbuzz.
