I was never settled in any franchise I played for: Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh recently announced retirement from all forms of the game. He is now most likely to ply his trade in the overseas T20 leagues and won’t feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL) either. Yuvraj featured for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL earlier this year but didn’t get many chances. Overall, the southpaw played for six IPL teams in his career but rues not getting settled in any of the franchises.

He first played for the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the earlier before being part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and the Mumbai Indians (MI). The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) sought Yuvraj Singh’s services for the whopping Rs 14 crore even as the left-hander featured for a couple of other franchises.

“I was never settled in whichever franchise I played for. I didn’t really get settled where you are made to play for one franchise or maybe two,” Yuvraj Singh said while speaking at the sidelines of the 91st annual general meeting of the Indian Chambers of Commerce where he won the lifetime achievement award.

I probably had my best season with RCB

Recalling his stint with the Virat Kohli-led RCB franchise, Yuvraj Singh felt that he had the best season with the franchise. He also expressed his delight for spending time in some of the best teams’ dressing room and termed it as an experience to remember.

“I almost joined KKR but last moment (in the auctions), I went to RCB. I probably had my best IPL season with RCB. It was unfortunate not to come to KKR. I can’t really complain about it. It was great working with all these teams. Being with Mumbai Indians and winning the championship, and also winning for Sunrisers was a great experience,” Yuvraj was quoted as saying by India Today.

Yuvraj Singh also spoke about the six sixes he smacked to Stuart Broad in the T20 World Cup in 2007 and asserted that it was just his day. “The inaugural World Twenty in 2007 changed world cricket especially in T20. It was just my day. The fifth ball was a yorker and still, I managed to hit that out of the park. It was my day,” the 37-year-old added.
