'I will never be able to fill MS Dhoni's shoes' - Hardik Pandya on taking up finisher's role of Team India

Hardik Pandya, the star all-rounder from India has finally recovered from his back injury and is ready to take the field for Team India. He has already been picked in India A squad that will tour to New Zealand for playing three one-day and two four-day games. It is well known that he shares a strong bond with MS Dhoni and in an interview, he has opened up about his feelings over the former Indian captain’s absence from the team.

The 26-year-old Baroda cricketer made his last T20I appearance against South Africa in the final T20I game of the three-match series. Soon after its conclusion, he was diagnosed with a lower back stress fracture and after recommendations of doctors, he underwent surgery. BCCI also supported him over the same as Hardik Pandya is expected to play an important role in Team India’s quest to win the T20 World Cup that is slated to held in October.

Hardik Pandya opines on the absence of MS Dhoni

Pandya has emerged as one of the best all-rounders across the country, who is known for his clean hitting. During an interview, he was questioned about Indian glovemen then he opened up with a heartwarming opinion over the same. Hardik said that he will never be able to fill the voids left by MS Dhoni in the team.

The India all-rounder added that fact he is excited to take up the challenge as he will do everything to help his team. “I’ll never be able to fill MS’ shoes, so I don’t even think that way. I’m quite excited about the challenge, to be honest. Whatever I do, it will be always for the team you know. It will be one step at the ladder and slowly-slowly that Cup will be there!,” said Hardik Pandya as quoted by India Today.

Currently, Team India is involved in a three-match T20I series with Sri Lanka and they are scheduled to play the last game at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on 10th January. It will be a busy first month of 2020 for Virat Kohli and Co. as they are scheduled to lock horns with Australia in three-match ODI series that will begin from January 14 in Mumbai.
