I would like to apologies to all KXIP fans for a terrible performance says Preity Zinta: If there was one team which had the biggest growth in terms of fans from the previous season of IPL to the Pepsi IPL 2015, it has to be the Kings XI Punjab. It was their fearless, tough to crack attitude and game that not only took the team well ahead of others into the final of the IPL 7. Though it fell short of fuel in the final match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) it did not hamper the appreciation and amazement their performances had created among the fans.
Come the IPL 8 and the Punjab fans hoped their team not only replicates similar game but also close things up in the best fashion, i.e. with the trophy in their hands. But right from the start of the tournament, they have failed to crack the combination, the one that can win them matches. Similar names who did wonders in the last edition, the Marshs’, the Millers’ the Maxwells’ and Bailey himself have really struggled to get going.
Despite of having a bowler as good as Mitchell Johnson and as skilled as Sandeep Sharma they have lacked consistency which is the key in a league like the IPL to win matches. After playing 9 matches thus far is just two wins and have tasted defeat on 7 occasions. With 4 points and 5 matches to go, nothing but a miracle can take them into the play offs. Coach Sanjay Bangar rightly pointed this out while speaking to the press recently.
After their loss to the Mumbai Indians last night the team owner Preity Zinta who looked equally disappointed with the poor show of her team twitted,
‘I’d really like 2apologize 2all #kxip fans 4 a terrible performance this IPL. Am hoping we can give u something 2smile about in the future’
