ICC pays tribute to MS Dhoni featuring Virat Kohli, Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes, Mohd Shahzad and Jasprit Bumrah
Dhoni is set to turn 38 on July 7.
MS Dhoni, the legendary Indian cricketer, is currently plying his trade in the 2019 edition of the World Cup in England and Wales. The Jharkhand-born cricketer may not be a spring chicken, but his intensity on the field hasn’t gone down by any stretch of the imagination. In the ongoing mega event, he has been amongst the runs but has been a recipient of sere criticism as well.
The same is because Dhoni has struggled to rotate the strike enough in the middle overs especially against the spinners and didn’t accelerate in the hour of need. However, Dhoni has also been praised by a number of them from the cricketing fraternity. On July 7, Dhoni is set to celebrate his 38th birthday and a day before, the International Cricket Council (ICC) produced a tribute for him featuring a bunch of current cricketers.
ICC in its tweet wrote- “A name that changed the face of Indian cricket. A name inspiring millions across the globe. A name with an undeniable legacy. MS Dhoni – not just a name!”
MS Dhoni- A legend
The video, features the likes of Indian captain Virat Kohli, Englishmen Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes, Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Afghanistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Shahzad who idolizes Dhoni and they were all full of praises for the legend who is in the twilight of his career. The clip starts with, Dhoni walking out to bat as the crowd chants “Dhoni…Dhoni…. Buttler called himself a big fan of Dhoni, mentioning that he likes his personality. Ben Stokes called MS a phenomenal wicketkeeper.
Shahzad, who has time again put himself forth as Dhoni’s supporter, said: ‘MS is very cool man, I love him’. Kohli called him the legend of Indian cricket. The 30-year-old shared his journey with the 2011 World Cup-winning captain and how he taught him the art of leading a team. Dhoni often helps Kohli captain the team and suggest changes in crunch moments of the game.
As far as Bumrah is concerned, the speedster revealed how Dhoni brings in a great amount of calmness that helps the team. In the video, even the fans were seen lauding the former Indian skipper. “He changed the face of Indian cricket,” a supporter stated. “Dhoni is the biggest legend Indian cricket ever had,” another fan said.
