ICC will not accept this foolish and childish move by BCCI, says Javed Miandad
There were reports of BCCI drafting a letter to ICC to ban Pakistan from the World Cup.
The Pulwama attack last week has led to the former cricketers from India and Pakistan making fiery statements now. The likes of Harbhajan Singh and Sourav Ganguly have come up with strict statements with the latter also suggesting to cut off all sporting ties with Pakistan. There have also been calls for Team India to boycott the World Cup game against Pakistan in England on June 16 later this year.
Moreover, there were reports recently, that the BCCI CoA has drafted a letter to sent to the International Cricket Council (ICC) requesting a ban on Pakistan from the upcoming World Cup for harbouring terrorists. However, the former Pakistan cricketer Javed Miandad feels that this move from the BCCI is childish and the ICC will not pay heed to this at all.
“ICC will not accept this foolish and childish move by BCCI. There is absolutely no chance of ICC listening to BCCI as its constitution allows members the right to participate in its events,” Miandad was quoted as saying by Geo News.
On India stopping the broadcast of PSL
In the aftermath of the Pulwama attack of which the militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed took responsibility, DSport stopped broadcasting the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in India. Moreover, the IMG Reliance which was responsible for the worldwide broadcast of the T20 tournament also pulled itself out.
“We should not bother with India’s cowardly acts instead we must focus on improving ourselves. Pakistan has always offered India a peaceful resolution of the issues but Indians have always responded in negative,” Miandad further said on the matter.
Meanwhile, Vinod Rai, the CoA chief, has cleared that the BCCI will be sending the letter to the ICC raising their concerns about Pakistan mainly about the security and also added they won’t play a bilateral series with the nation which supports terrorism.
