England will be locking horns with India in Match 15 of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 at the Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui on March 16. Both teams will be coming into this contest on the back of contrasting results in their respective encounters. Nothing has gone right for the defending champions so far as they are yet to register their first win in the tournament. England lost their first three games against Australia, West Indies, and South Africa respectively.

India, on the other hand, are on a roll in this World Cup. After a thumping 107-run win over arch-rivals Pakistan, they faced a setback against the hosts New Zealand going down by 62 runs. The Mithali Raj-led side then staged a remarkable comeback with an outstanding 155-run win over the West Indies. They would now be hoping to register a third win and also avenge the 2017 final loss as they face a demoralized English side.

Pitch Report:

The teams have so far succeeded in defending totals in the ongoing Women’s World Cup. The side batting first only struggles if they suffer a batting collapse and are forced to settle for a paltry total which is not at all challenging for their opponents. In the 14 matches, only four teams have managed to chase down totals while the rest of the 10 wins have gone to the teams batting first.

Therefore, the captain who calls it right at the toss will look to bat first and with no dew factor expected in the second innings, a total of or in excess of 250 will be enough to put pressure on the chasing side.

England-W vs India-W Head to Head

Overall games – 72, England-39, India-31, NR-2

Probable Top Performers

Probable best batter: Harmanpreet Kaur

Harmanpreet Kaur is India’s highest run-getter in this competition. Kaur has so far amassed 185 runs from three matches averaging 61.66 including a half-century and a century each. While she did have an off-day in the tournament opener against Pakistan, the power-hitter unleashed the best in her with a valiant knock of 71 runs off 63 deliveries against the Kiwis before scoring a match-winning 109 against the Windies. The senior batter would yet again be expected to come out all guns blazing against England who are desperately looking for their first win.

Probable best bowler: Rajeshwari Gayakwad

Rajeshwari Gayakwad has been India’s highest wicket-taker so far in this edition of the Women’s World Cup. She has registered seven scalps from three games. Gayakwad picked up four wickets against Pakistan and then went on to take two more in the next fixture against the White Ferns. Even though the left-arm spinner could only manage a solitary scalp in the last game against the Caribbeans, she would be looking forward to bamboozling the English batters in the upcoming contest.
