ICC World Cup 2019: 5 fielders who saved most number of runs in less matches
Ravindra Jadeja tops the list despite saving 7 runs lesser than Martin Guptill did, as the former achieved the feat in a fewer number of matches comparatively.
2. Martin Guptill – 48 runs
Martin Guptill‘s campaign in the recently-concluded World Cup 2019 was like an elevated railway. Despite the fact that the star opener had a horrible outing with the bat in the tourney, he was in the limelight on many occasions. With the willow, the 32-year old was able to score just 186 runs at a minimum average of 20.67.
Howbeit, the veteran cricketer went on to become the most successful fielder of the tournament and saved most no. of runs for his team. Guptill saved a total of 53 runs, however, 5 of them were deducted because of an overthrow. Hence, he saved 48 runs for his team while fielding inside the inner ring and topped the list of most runs saved by a fielder in ICC CWC 2019.
Guptill’s fielding became one of the talking points of the tourney as he is the same guy who had affected the famous run out of MS Dhoni in the first semi-final and broke the dream of millions of fans from all over India.
