Root breaks England records:

A rare all-round triple by Root:
2 – Joe Root became only the 2nd player in the history of ODI cricket to score a century, bag two or more wickets and affect two fielding dismissals in the same game. The first one with this triple was Aravinda de Silva of Sri Lanka during their triumph over Australia in the 1996 CWC final. De Silva scored an unbeaten 107, took 3/47 and claimed two outfield catches in that game.
2 – Root is also only the 2nd England opener to score a century and pick more than one wicket in the same ODI game. Moeen Ali achieved this double when he scored 128 against Scotland in the 2015 World Cup and followed it with figures of 2/47.
Gayle goes past Viv:
1632 – Runs Chris Gayle has scored in the ODI format against England; the most by any player in the WI-ENG ODI matches. Gayle thus went past Sir Viv Richards’ tally of 1619 runs in this game. Both the Caribbean batsmen have played 36 ODIs against England and batted in 34 of them.
