ICC World Cup 2019: Match 39, Sri Lanka vs Windies: Captain and Vice-Captain for Dream11 Fantasy
Here is the guide to select the Captain and Vice-Captain for Dream11 Fantasy.
After their victory against hosts England, Sri Lanka had a massive chance of qualifying for the semi-final of the 2019 World Cup. Unfortunately, in the very next encounter against South Africa at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street, Dimuth Karunaratne and Co slumped to a nine-wicket defeat. The Lankans are still alive in the tournament, but now they can’t go to the next round on their own.
The Islanders are next scheduled to lock horns with the Windies in Chester-le-Street and another loss would officially end their campaign. The Caribbean team, on the other hand, has nothing to lose now as they are already eliminated. Placed ninth in the points table, Jason Holder’s men last won in the tournament almost a month ago. They will be looking to salvage some pride with a triumph.
Here is the guide to select the Captain and Vice-Captain for Dream11 Fantasy:
Captain Suggestions
Shai Hope
Going by the standards he has set for himself, Shai Hope has had a pretty lacklustre outing in the World Cup. Barring his 68 and 98 versus Australia and Bangladesh respectively, the 25-year-old hasn’t made much of an impact. In the last couple of games, he didn’t manage to cross the single-digit score. Hope has 192 runs at an average of 32 and against off-colour Lankan bowling, he can make amends.

Sheldon Cottrell
Sheldon Cottrell has been the standout bowler for the Windies. With 11 wickets from seven matches, he has delivered most time. The 29-year-old has picked up wickets upfront and also at the death. He has a lethal Yorker in his repertoire and also a more-than-effective bouncer. The Lankan batting has blown hot and cold, and Cottrell can definitely ruffle a few feathers.

Chris Gayle
Chris Gayle is currently the Windies’ leading run-scorer with only 200 runs at an average of 33.33. The veteran is a bit out of form, playing at a strike-rate of below 100. However, with knocks of 87 and a half-century, he has shown his brutal self. In the last match, the 39-year-old Jamaican failed to deliver versus India and would be desperate to get a big score under his belt.

Vice-Captain Suggestions:
Avishka Fernando
Avishka Fernando has only played a couple of games, but he has looked assured in the middle. With scores of 49 and 30, he has given a good account of himself. Fernando has scored at a strike-rate of 116.17 and that’s a testament to his decent form. Now he needs to make the starts count and help his team garner a much-needed victory in the World Cup.

Kusal Mendis
Kusal Mendis hasn’t had the best of outings in the mega event. He has scored 101 runs in five matches at an average of 20.20. But after a few outright failures in the first few games, Mendis has shown sparks of brilliance with the bat in hand. In the last three matches, the 24-year-old had scores of 30, 46 and 23, which shows that he is slowly, but surely gaining his momentum back.

Shimron Hetmyer
Shimron Hetmyer has looked threatening in the World Cup but has also been guilty of throwing his wicket away in crunch moments. He currently has 189 runs under his belt in the tournament at an average of 37.80. The left-hander has a wide range of strokes in his armoury but needs to be a little more circumspect in order to make more impact in a game.
