The first official warm-up game of the Windies ahead of World Cup 2019 had to be called off due to rain. Hence, the players couldn’t spend much time on the field as a part of their preparations. However, the Caribbean side has got another opportunity to hone their skills before the quadrennial event. They will be facing New Zealand in the next game.

The Kiwis, one of the most dangerous sides in the English overcast conditions, were all over India in their last encounter. Their bowlers made the most of the conditions and were lethal. New Zealand has got a very good balance and will look to test out the other players in the squad as well. Tom Latham and Matt Henry could be back for this game which will further strengthen the team.

Here is the guide to select the Captain and vice-captain for Dream11 Fantasy:

Captain Suggestions:

1. Ross Taylor

Even since he’s got his eye operation done almost four years ago, Ross Taylor has turned out to be one of the biggest strengths for this New Zealand side. Taylor, who had an issue with his strike rates, is a completely different player now. He scored 71 runs at a strike rate of 95 in the game against India and hit 8 boundaries as well. Being one of the most consistent players in the team, he has the knack of scoring big runs and is likely to earn you good points.

2. Shai Hope

Just like Ross Taylor, Shai Hope is the most consistent player for Windies. He batted exceptionally well in the tri-nation series where he scored two back-to-back centuries and got two 70+ scores. Hope has got all the qualities to become one of the best ODI cricketers for the Windies as the side has found it tough to find reliable performers in recent times.

3. Trent Boult

When the ball swings even a bit, New Zealand pacer Trent Boult can be dangerous. If the conditions are overcast, he might have an opportunity to exploit the technical flaws of many of the Windies batsmen. Boult could pose several questions to the top-order batsmen who aren’t technically the best. Even if he manages to pick up two or three wickets, he should be a valuable pick in your side. The left-arm pacer accounted for four wickets against India.

Vice-captain suggestions:

1. Andre Russell

Windies all-rounder Andre Russell hasn’t had much match practice of late. After the IPL, he played a practice game against Australia while the South Africa match was washed out. However, he didn’t have much to do on both these occasions. Hence, he is likely to bat higher up the order and might get to bowl more overs. Russell could only score 5 runs in the unofficial game against Australia.

2. Kane Williamson

New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson spent some quality time in the middle against India. Because of his shoulder injury, he couldn’t bat much during the IPL and didn’t have the best of tournaments. In the previous game, he started off slowly and didn’t look to take too many risks. But as the innings progressed, he caught up with pace and played some glorious shots. The 28-year-old scored 67 runs off 87 balls in that match.

3. Martin Guptill

Martin Guptill, who scored two back-to-back centuries in February against Bangladesh, was back in New Zealand colours after a long time. He still seems to be getting into his zone and scored 22 against India. The opener can be absolutely destructive once he finds some momentum early on and has got the ability to bat for a long time. He is that sort of a player whom you can also consider to add into your side.
