'If he can play, he will play' - Vikram Rathour on Jasprit Bumrah's participation in Brisbane Test
The medical team has been trying their best to get the fast bowler fit enough to be ready in time for the Brisbane Test.
India pulled off a draw at the Sydney Cricket Ground against all odds. After the efforts of Sydney, the task was gonna get uphill for India in any way, but the fact that half of their side is struggling to maintain match fitness is what is putting in all sorts of pressure.
However, the biggest loss in terms of experience and quality, was when the news of Jasprit Bumrah being injured and ruled out of the Gabba Test came around. The team management or the BCCI didn’t make any official statement. The news was all around as the updates started coming that the fast bowler won’t be risked for the final Test. But, with the series on the line, it seems like the Indian team also understands how invaluable Bumrah is to their chances of winning this Test and the series.
If he can play, he will play, if he cannot, then he won’t: Vikram Rathour on Bumrah
The batting coach of the Indian side, Vikram Rathour finally provided an update on the fitness of the speedster. As said by Rathour, the medical team has been trying their best to get the fast bowler fit enough to be ready in time for the Brisbane Test. He also said that a final call on his availability would be taken on the morning of the Test match.
“The medical team is working with Bumrah, we have to see tomorrow morning whether he is fit to play the fourth Test or not. If he can play, he will play, if he cannot, then he won’t,” Rathour was quoted saying by TOI. “The injuries are still being monitored. Our medical staff is looking into it, I would not be in a position to comment on this right now. We would like to give them as much time as possible. It will be tomorrow morning that you will know which eleven takes the field,” Rathour added.
Bumrah was instrumental in India’s series win last time around they were Down Under. It was not expected that this Indian team would go to the Gabba Test, with a scoreline of 1-1. However, Ajinkya Rahane’s team has shown great spirit and overcame every little struggle. If they win the Gabba Test, it would be a great achievement considering the way they have been plagued with injuries.
