Former Pakistan bowler Wasim Akram has recently quoted that if he had to bowl to Virat Kohli, he would surely be worried. Virat Kohli is in a rampaging form at the moment and has amassed 919 runs in the current season of the IPL so far with 4 centuries to his name. He has been drawing praises from all corners and Wasim Akram has joined the list now.
Akram had earlier called Kohli the best batsman in the world. He compared Kohli’s current form to Sachin Tendulkar’s form in his prime. He said bowling to Kohli is like bowling to Tendulkar in ODIs, which is a very tough job, he said.
“Belief, his ability and on top of that his technique. We haven’t seen him play the reverse shot or the lap shot, he always plays proper cricketing shots with the full face of the bat. That’s why he has been very consistent and as a bowler if I had to bowl at him, I will be worried. It’s like in ODI cricket when Sachin Tendulkar opened the innings, it was very difficult to bowl at him because Sachin as a batsman and Kohli as a batsman will hardly give you a chance to get them out,” quoted the legendary Pakistan bowler.
When asked to compare AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli, arguably the two best batsmen in world cricket at the moment, Akram was honest in saying the two batsmen are different players altogether and hence it is very difficult to compare them. However, he hailed both of them as true match winners for their teams.
“Very difficult to compare both of them. They have different techniques, they are different players but are very consistent and match-winners. Not just in this format but in all the formats. That’s why these guys are the best in the world,” added Wasim Akram.
Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on the winner of the Qualifier 2 in the finals of IPL 2016.
