'If India and Pakistan meet again, India will play much better and win: Harbhajan Singh
Harbhajan Singh has expressed that he is confident that the Indian team will bounce back.
Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has backed the men’s team to come back stronger the next time they face the Pakistan team. In their opening game at the T20 World Cup 2021, India lost their first-ever match against Pakistan in World Cups. This was the 13th game (ODIs and T20Is combined) and Pakistan won that match by 10 wickets in Dubai.
After the heavy defeat, India has an uphill task. Ideally, if they win all their matches in this group, that should be enough to get them through to the semi-finals. However, they will face a stiff challenge against New Zealand and Afghanistan in their upcoming matches. They are also due to play Scotland and Namibia.
Speaking about the defeat and the reaction in the aftermath, Harbhajan Singh expressed his opinions on his Youtube channel. He seemed to point out the fact that Pakistani fans are celebrating the win a bit too much. Further, he remarked that India has won all the previous 12 matches, a streak that started way back in 1992.
Moving forward, we will show what Indians can do, says Harbhajan
“India lost against Pakistan for the first time in World Cups, and even though it was the T20 World Cup, it still happened. There is a lot of chaos on social media as if they have done a huge thing. It might have been for Pakistan but we have defeated them 12 times in the World Cup, we should not forget this. If India and Pakistan meet again, India will play much better and win,” Harbhajan Singh said on his Youtube channel.
The next big challenge for India would be on October 31, when they face New Zealand, who themselves have a good side within the core. They also lost their opening Super 12 fixture against Pakistan in Sharjah and would be looking to make a comeback. Harbhajan hyped the Indian team up, saying that he knows that the team will show what they are capable of.
“Important game against New Zealand needs a win. Again, lot of discussion on the India – Pakistan match on Twitter and social media. The match is over, so move on. Moving forward, We will show what Indians can do,” Harbhajan Singh added.
