'If only Pakistan fight as much as the number of hashtags you've used' - Aakash Chopra takes a dig at Brad Hogg's recent tweet
After registering a win in the first Test and the second one resulting into a rain-marred draw, England currently are in the driving seat to clinch the series.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first, England registered a dominant 583/8 in the third and final Test of the series against Pakistan. Youngster Zak Crawley hogged the headlines after delivering his maiden double century in the traditional format. 22-year-old Crawley scored 267 to leave the Pakistan bowling force gasping for breath.
Wicketkeeper Jos Buttler also assisted Crawley by stitching a brilliant `152-run knock. After amassing 583 on the board, England bolstered their chances of winning the Test and clinching the series.
Pakistan, in reply, lost wickets at regular intervals but skipper Azhar Ali stayed in the middle to guide his side to a respectable total. He scored a gritty 141 off 272 deliveries, hitting 21 fours in his knock. He was also joined by Mohammad Rizwan who scored a 113-ball 53.
Despite skipper Azhar Ali’s ton and Mohammad Rizwan’s half-century, Pakistan couldn’t avoid follow on as they gathered just 273 runs on the board. The visitors, on the fourth day, stitched 41 on the board without the loss of any wicket before rain halted the play.
Brad Hogg expects Pakistan to show some fighting spirit
Looking at the current situation of the Ageas Bowl Test, Australia veteran Brad Hogg opined that Pakistan could pull off an upset if they show fighting spirit and can get 120 runs in front.
“If Pakistan can get 120 runs in front they could cause an upset. Look forward to see there fighting spirit today. Game on. #engvpak #cricket #pakistan #pakistancricket #englandcricket #england #pakveng #pcb #cricketer #lovecricket #cricketlovers #icc #cricketnews #ECB #England,” tweeted Hogg.
Apart from his opinion, one thing which caught the eye of many fans was Hogg’s excessive use of hashtags. Cricketer-turned-commentator Aakash Chopra was ready with a hilarious response under his sleeve as he poked fun at the number of hashtags which Hogg had used in his tweet.
“If only Pakistan fights as much as the number of hashtags my friend has used here #EngvPak,” reacted Chopra.
After registering a win in the first Test and the second one resulting into a rain-marred draw, England currently are in the driving seat to clinch the series. If England beat Pakistan in the third Test, they’ll script their first Test series win over Pakistan since 2010. Pakistan currently trail by 269 runs with openers Abid Ali (22*) and Shan Masood (13*) battling in the middle.
