The Australian side will travel to Pakistan for a full-fledged series that will comprise of 3 Tests, 3 ODIs, and a T20I match which will begin on 4th March 2022. And, ahead of this trip to Pakistan, Aussie Test skipper Pat Cummins said that the kangaroos will travel to Pakistan with the goal to win the series.

Cummins also added that this goal might also mean that Australia will have to hold on and play out a tough draw if the need arises to do so. The right-arm pacer also added that a draw might sometimes be as good as a win in Test cricket.

“The most obvious one is to win the series. But I think that might not necessarily look like two wins and one loss or whatever, it might be having to grind out some tough test matches and hold out for a draw. A hard-fought, five-day grinding out for a draw in the context of a three-match series might be as good as a win,” said Pat Cummins as quoted by India Today.

We don’t really know what we are going to expect in Pakistan: Pat Cummins

Pat Cummins also added that the Aussies do not exactly know what to expect when they tour Pakistan. Adding that a lot of players in the Australian Test setup have not played much overseas, Cummins concluded by stating that if Australia wants to be the top Test side in the world, they should perform well in the subcontinent.

“We don’t really know what we’re going to expect over there, but sub-continent Test matches can be played quickly or can be played slowly. For a lot of this group, we haven’t played a lot of cricket overseas so if we want to be number one in the world, we need to have a really good showing on these sub-continent tours, and that starts in Pakistan,” concluded Cummins.
